Mode of Delivery
This unit is delivered through a combination of online self-paced learning and practical workplace application, ensuring students can engage with theoretical content remotely and apply their skills in real-world scenarios. The online component includes interactive modules, readings, and assessments accessible via our Learning Management System (LMS), allowing students to progress at their own pace while adhering to course timeline.
Assessment Methods
Assessment is conducted by qualified assessors using a combination of tools and methods, in accordance with the principles of assessment (fairness, flexibility, validity, reliability) and the rules of evidence (valid, sufficient, current, authentic). Students will be assessed as either Competent or Not Yet Competent based on their performance against the unit requirements.
Assessment methods include:
- Written Responses to Theory Questions:
Learners will complete theory-based questions within the Learning Management System (LMS) that assess their understanding of effective workplace communication principles, protocols, and procedures. - Portfolio of Work Samples:
Learners will compile a portfolio including samples of workplace communication documents such as reports, checklists, messages, and logs, demonstrating practical application of communication skills in a workplace setting. - Verbal Questioning:
Verbal assessments will evaluate learners’ ability to clearly and accurately communicate information, respond to questions, and engage effectively with colleagues and supervisors in a variety of workplace scenarios. - Combination of the Above:
A blended assessment approach will be used, incorporating written, verbal, and practical tasks to ensure learners can communicate safely, clearly, and efficiently in workplace environments.
