Mode of Delivery
This unit is delivered through a combination of online self-paced learning and practical workplace application, ensuring students can engage with theoretical content remotely and apply their skills in real-world scenarios. The online component includes interactive modules, readings, and assessments accessible via our Learning Management System (LMS), allowing students to progress at their own pace while adhering to course timeline.
Assessment Methods
Assessment is conducted by qualified assessors using a combination of tools and methods, in accordance with the principles of assessment (fairness, flexibility, validity, reliability) and the rules of evidence (valid, sufficient, current, authentic). Students will be assessed as either Competent or Not Yet Competent based on their performance against the unit requirements.
Assessment methods include:
- Written Responses to Theory Questions:
Students will complete theory-based questions through the Learning Management System (LMS) to demonstrate their understanding of equipment preparation, maintenance, testing procedures, and workplace safety requirements. - Portfolio of Work Samples:
Students will compile evidence such as inspection checklists, maintenance records, and testing logs to demonstrate the practical application of skills in preparing, maintaining, and testing response equipment. They will also show their ability to inspect, test, clean, maintain, and safely store equipment in simulated or workplace settings. - Verbal Questioning:
Students will answer questions verbally to demonstrate their knowledge of equipment procedures, safe practices, and problem-solving in operational scenarios. - Combination of the Above:
A blended assessment approach, combining written, practical, and documented evidence, will ensure students can safely and effectively prepare, maintain, and test response equipment for operational readiness.
